Cheese & Sausage Ramyeon: A Cheesy Korean Twist

Cheese & Sausage Ramyeon: A Cheesy Korean Twist

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of instant ramyeon noodles (preferably spicy, but can be adjusted to your preference)
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 sausages (Korean-style or any type of sausage you like), sliced into rounds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for added flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (for a smoky touch)
  • 1 egg (optional, for extra richness)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions or scallions
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (for added depth of flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional, for a savory kick)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for creaminess)
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste) or sriracha (for extra spice, optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Noodles:

    • In a pot, bring about 2 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the instant noodles and cook according to the package instructions (usually 3-4 minutes). Be sure to stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
    • Once the noodles are done, drain most of the water (leaving about 1-2 tablespoons to help make the sauce) and set the noodles aside.
  2. Cook the Sausages:

    • While the noodles cook, heat the olive oil or vegetable oil in a separate pan over medium heat.
    • Add the sliced sausages and cook until they’re nicely browned and slightly crispy on the edges, about 3-4 minutes. Set the sausages aside once cooked.
  3. Make the Cheese Sauce:

    • In the same pan you used for the sausages, lower the heat and add the butter. Once melted, sprinkle in the garlic powder, paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
    • Add the shredded mozzarella cheese to the pan, stirring it gently until it begins to melt and become creamy. If the sauce gets too thick, add a splash of the reserved noodle water to loosen it up.
    • Stir in the sesame oil and gochujang (if using) for a spicy, flavorful kick.
  4. Assemble the Dish:

    • Add the cooked noodles back into the pan with the cheese sauce and toss everything together, making sure the noodles are evenly coated in the creamy cheese sauce.
    • Add the cooked sausages to the noodles and give it one last mix.
  5. Optional Egg Add-In:

    • If you want to add an egg, push the noodles to one side of the pan, crack the egg into the empty space, and cook it sunny-side up or scramble it lightly. Once the egg is cooked to your liking, mix it into the noodles.
  6. Final Touches:

    • Drizzle a little soy sauce over the top for an extra savory layer of flavor (optional).
    • Garnish with chopped green onions or scallions for freshness and crunch.
  7. Serve:

    • Plate the Cheese & Sausage Ramyeon and enjoy your rich, cheesy, and spicy comfort food!

Pro Tips:

  • To make it even more indulgent, top with additional shredded cheese before serving.
  • For a vegetarian version, replace the sausages with tofu or a variety of vegetables like mushrooms, spinach, or bell peppers.
  • Adjust the spice level to your taste by controlling the amount of gochujang or sriracha you add.

This Cheese & Sausage Ramyeon brings a deliciously cheesy twist to the popular Korean instant noodle dish, with savory sausages and a creamy sauce that takes your ramyeon to the next level! It’s perfect for a quick, comforting meal with a spicy kick and an indulgent, cheesy finish.
